Case Study: CrimsonLogic Meets a Training Challenge with Web Conferencing

online training

For CrimsonLogic (www.crimsonlogic.com), a leading application service provider that provides a range of secure e-commerce solutions, its recent software launch--while exciting--also proved to be a challenge.

It was clear the updated technology would benefit the company's customers. But it was also clear that, with clients around the globe, providing adequate training for this software would be a daunting task.

"We needed to train our users, but we knew this wasn’t going to be a one-session training project," says James May, CrimsonLogic's business development director.

He also knew it wouldn't be feasible or affordable to assemble clients from all over the world into one room for a several-day training session.

Wondering about Web Conferencing
While May was familiar with Web conferencing, he had never found a service to fully fit the company's needs. And though he knew the technology might be easy to use, he was sure this convenience would come with a hefty price tag.

Still, he needed a way to arm his clients with the new software as quickly and effortlessly as possible. So he searched the Internet, hoping for a Web conferencing service that could do just that.

“I was looking for a company that would allow me to set up a corporate account, because I knew there were going to be many Web conferences scheduled at once," he says.

"Plus, I was looking for a competitively-priced product. The first company we used had very high per-minute, per-user charges. I knew there had to be something better out there.”

Infinite Conferencing’s Difference
When May came across Infinite Conferencing’s Webinar product, he knew he'd found something different. For one thing, the service seemed to be incredibly easy to use.

"Meetings can be started very quickly and presentations can be published and unpublished very quickly, as well," he says.

It also helped that Infinite’s pricing structure was lower than those of companies CrimsonLogic had used for Webinars in the past.

With all of this in mind, May immediately opened an Infinite account online. Within minutes of receiving a user name and password, he was able to set up his software-training schedule.

The first session involved about 30 people in the U.S., Canada and Europe. He sent all participants e-mail invitations, including the URL and login details. On Webinar day, participants signed into training periods that met their personal schedules, as sessions were set up to accommodate different time zones.

Fast Results
For May, the results were quickly apparent. “It was so easy to share my desktop with the Webinar participants. Whatever I loaded onto my desktop could be seen by everyone signed into the Web conference,” he says.

“I was able to conduct the entire presentation in a very interactive fashion with all individuals seeing exactly what I was talking about and hearing my voice on a teleconference call.”

“Everyone who participated told us later that they really enjoyed the Webinar," he adds. "They liked the convenience of being able to train on their own schedules – in their homes or offices."

Challenge Becomes Success Story
May says he plans to use the Webinar service extensively going forward, especially for product demonstrations and new client meetings. He also says he would definitely recommend Infinite's services to other companies.

Web conferencing, he says, expands your client reach, improves training, and "you don't have to visit a client's location and try to fit everything into one day," he says.

"With Web conferencing, you can conduct short, one-hour training sessions first thing in the morning from your own office, which helps the client with better learning retention."

It also helps, in this case, to turn a company's challenge into a success story.
